How UXXU Desktop works
UXXU Desktop brings the architecture workspace to your computer. Use it as a free viewer for local Structurizr DSL, or sign in to access your cloud workspace. Switch between Local and Cloud from the Projects screen.
Open a Structurizr .dsl file on your computer and explore its architecture. No account, subscription or upload is needed for local viewing, and it works offline.
workspace.dsl.Sign in with your UXXU account to open your organisations and cloud projects inside the app. Model, edit and collaborate with your team using the same cloud workspace you use in the browser.
Move from the project gallery to a diagram, use Diagram Map to find connected views, and inspect the shared object model behind them.
Sign in with an active editing licence and an editor, admin or owner role to create workspaces, edit on the visual canvas or in DSL source, and save changes to disk. Undo, redo, Save As and autosave support the workflow.
macOS, Windows and Linux AppImage releases check for updates and ask before restarting to install them. You can also use Help → Check for Updates. Debian / Ubuntu installations are updated by installing a newer DEB package.
Installed builds register UXXU as an application for Structurizr .dsl files. Once UXXU is your default app for that extension, double-click a file in Finder or your file manager to open its local project directly.
Yes. The local viewer is free and works without an account. Open supported Structurizr DSL files and browse their diagrams. Creating, editing and saving local workspaces requires signing in with an active UXXU editing licence and an editor, admin or owner role. Cloud plans and their limits are separate.
Yes. Sign in with your usual UXXU account and select your cloud organisation and project. Your existing cloud plan and permissions apply, including any free-plan limits. The desktop application does not turn local files into cloud projects or sync them automatically.
Installed builds register UXXU for .dsl files. Set UXXU as the default application for that extension to open them with a double-click. If another application is already the default, choose Open With → UXXU or change your system's default-app setting. Linux AppImage users may need desktop integration first; opening a file from inside UXXU always remains available.
No. Opening a local workspace does not upload it to UXXU. Cloud projects use the connected cloud service. Optional account-linked usage reporting is off by default and is a separate choice in Help → Desktop Privacy.
You can view local files without signing in or connecting to the internet. Editing requires online licence verification first. A previously verified editing licence can work offline for up to 24 hours, subject to its expiry. Cloud projects need a connection.
Open a .dsl workspace to explore its supported context, container and component views. Desktop 1.0.0 supports a subset of Structurizr DSL; external includes, scripts and plugins are not supported. Keep a backup of your source files before editing.
On macOS, open the DMG and drag UXXU to Applications. On Windows, run the EXE installer. On Debian or Ubuntu, install the DEB with your package manager. For AppImage, allow the downloaded file to run as a program in its file permissions, then open it.
